The Lila Mae Foundation was founded upon the simple belief that when young men and women of color are given access to opportunity they thrive. The Foundation arms young folks of color with the necessary tools and exposure as well as a pathway to the people, places and programs that educate and inspire.
This annual tour for Oakland Unified School District High School Sophomores and Juniors is designed to expose program participants to the rich heritage, culture and traditions of the HBCU experience. Specifically, The Howard University Experience. Known as The Mecca, Howard is the pinnacle of HBCUs. In addition to academic program exploration on campus, students will have the opportunity to experience the cornerstone of the Howard University experience: Howard Homecoming.
Inspired by the Late Nipsey Hussle, this grant supports the entrepreneurial goals of young African American aspiring or existing business owners. Nipsey was a powerful force in his community and served as a role model who empowered his peers through inspiration and opportunity. To honor his legacy we are passing the baton of opportunity on to the next Nipsey Hussle. The Marathon Continues…
